"I started working in an estates agents as my first job after leaving school, and when the housing market crashed in the late 80’s ended up taking a position as a Medical Secretary for six years at Pilgrim Hospital, which was a fantastic experience.
I’ve now been in the NHS for 29 years and have worked in a variety of corporate roles in acute, mental health, community and primary care settings – having spent the last five years working as the Corporate Board Secretary for two Clinical Commissioning Groups, which has been extremely challenging to say the least!
I am very proud to say I work for the NHS and have worked with individuals from both the corporate and clinical aspects and have met some very interesting personalities over the years, a number of whom I now consider to be very close friends.
I’ve also met and spoken to a large number of patients during my time in the NHS and listened with interest to their personal stories.
The NHS is ever changing but I hope that it continues to change for the better to ensure a quality service is provided to patients and also as an attractive long term career option."
