Charges for information

Nearly all of our information can be accessed from this website free of charge. In some cases charges may apply.

The FOI Act and the associated Fees Regulations state that we cannot charge a fee for information unless:

  • there is a statutory basis for doing so, or
  • the amount of time taken to locate the information exceeds 18 hours.

However, we are allowed to charge for disbursements (i.e., costs) that we incur by providing information, and re-formatting it where necessary. Under the regulations, we must tell you that we're applying a fee.

To see more about fees, read our fees notice. As part of our commitment to openness and transparency, we try to keep any fees to a minimum

If you do not have access to the internet, a printed copy of the web page(s) can be sent to you free of charge.

The following may incur a charge:

  • requests for multiple copies
  • where the cost of photocopying, postage and packing exceed £50

Any charges made will be to cover the costs of photocopying, postage and packing. You will be told in advance of supplying the information if there will be a charge, and how much it will be.
