Armed Forces Covenant

Armed Forces Community

The Armed Forces Covenant is a voluntary statement of mutual support between the civilian community in Lincolnshire and the local armed forces community, and outlines the moral obligations between the nation, the Government and the armed forces at a local level.

South Lincolnshire CCG has signed up to the Lincolnshire Armed Forces Covenant in partnership with a wide range of organisations including local councils, police, members of the voluntary sector and the civilian community. See more information about the partnership >>

The aims of the Covenant in Lincolnshire are to:

  • Encourage local communities to support the armed forces community in their area;
  • Nurture public understanding and awareness amongst the public of issues affecting the armed forces community;
  • Recognize and remember the sacrifices faced by the armed forces community;
  • Encourage activities which help to integrate the armed forces community into local life
  • Encourage the armed forces community to help and support the wider community, whether through participation in events and joint projects, or other forms of engagement

The Lincolnshire Armed Forces Covenant was agreed on 20 September 2017. See the organisations that make up the partnership in Lincolnshire >>

Dr Kevin Hill, GP and Chair, South Lincolnshire CCG:

“We are extremely proud of our local men and women who have served in the past and/or continue to serve us now, and being a part of the Lincolnshire Armed Forces Covenant is perhaps the best way for us to demonstrate this. As a county we have a very long association with the armed forces and many of us also have that association on a personal level.  Being responsible for commissioning healthcare in the county, it seems logical that we would want to do everything possible to support both current members of the armed forces and veterans.”

The Covenant Fund

The Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund makes grants to support members of the armed forces community, and has four broad funding themes now and in future years:

  • Removing barriers to family life;
  • Extra support after service for those that need help;
  • Measures to integrate military and civilian communities and allow the armed forces community to participate as citizens;
  • Non-core healthcare services for veterans
