South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (SLCCG) is committed to delivering the Equality Delivery System 2 (EDS2). The CCG is an NHS organisation that brings together local GPs and health professionals to plan, buy and monitor the quality of health services provided locally. CCGs have a responsibility to secure the best health outcomes for their whole population within their available budget.
South Lincolnshire CCG is responsible for commissioning – or buying – high quality healthcare for our patient population including elective care, emergency care, maternity services, community and mental health services. We also buy the majority of GP services for our 162, 000 patients registered across our GP practices.
The CCG commissions services for the populations of Stamford, Bourne, Market Deeping, Spalding, Long Sutton, and surrounding areas, all with very different challenges. There is a higher proportion of people aged 50 years and older than in other Lincolnshire CCGs and the prevalence of cancer, diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke and respiratory disease are all slightly higher in SLCCG than the England average. It is our job to understand the health needs of local people and to invest in services that will give you, our patients, better healthcare.
EDS2 aims to deliver better outcomes for patients and communities and better working environments for staff, which are personal, fair and diverse. It is intended to help organisations achieve compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) and a number of other NHS standards. It is aligned to NHS England’s commitment to an inclusive NHS that is fair and accessible to all.
