Mandy Steele, Lead Nurse for Quality and Safety, South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, has been given the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by community nursing charity, The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).
The prestigious title is not an award for past service, but indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership, and nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities, and a shared professional identity.
Founded in 1887, the Queen’s Nursing Institute is a registered charity and believes in the best possible nursing care for people at home. It works with nurses and decision makers to ensure that good quality nursing is available to everyone when they need it. The title of Queen’s Nurse is open to registered nurses with more than five years’ experience working in the community. Managers and patients provide feedback about applicants, which is assessed along with their application.
Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, Chief Executive of the QNI said:
“On behalf of the QNI I would like to congratulate Mandy and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse. Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality healthcare across the country. The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigourous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers. We look forward to working with Mandy and all other new Queen’s Nurses who have received the title this year.”
Pam Palmer, Chief Nurse, South & South West Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Groups said:
“We are immensely proud of Mandy and her recognition from the Queen’s Nursing Institute, which is richly deserved. Mandy has made a significant impact during her time with the CCGs. To be awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse is a significant honour and recognises the extraordinary commitment of nurses like Mandy across the country.”
